Sleepy start by Ports Authority demands attention

By Alhaji Komba

Defending champions Ports Authority are finding life difficult after playing three games without securing a point in the on-going Sierra Leone Premier League.
With Ports due to face their Guinean counterpart, Athletic De Horoyya, in two weeks time in Freetown, fans are beginning to ask a lot of questions about their team’s ability in progressing in Africa’s Premier Club Championship title.
The Water Front Boys, lost to FC Kallon 3-1 in their opening match of the Africell Premier League 2011-2012, they also lost to lowly Central Parade 1-0 and to Old Edwardians by the same score line. This is their worst Premier League start in their history.
The situation has left Port fans playing the blame game, with some people pointing fingers at the players drop in form, some say coach Christian Cole and the technical staff have lost the plot and they should quit.
A bigger headache for Christian Cole is the likelihood of him losing his position as head coach of the national team Leone Stars, if he still continues to lose to less fancied teams. Christian Cole took over from Lass Olorf Matson as head coach of the National Team after Leone Stars narrowly failed to qualify for 2012 AFCON in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea which is in the semi final stage.
