RSLAF and Partners Celebrate MAC-P

the 4 Infantry Brigade (RSLAF) and its partners, the Sierra Leone Police (SLP), the Civil Populace, and other institutions in the northern region such as the Prison Service, National Fire Force, Makeni City Council and others in the Northern Region have celebrated a “successful” implementation of Military Aid to Civilian Power (MAC-P) operations in the region.

Speaking on the occasion at Wusum field in Makeni the Assistant Inspector General of Police Northern Region AIGSulukuConteh explained that before the 2012 general elections there was tension all over the country, and fears of civil disturbance.

He said the President invoked the MAC-P operations so as to ensure peaceful elections and noted that the general election was peaceful due to the fact that the MAC-P operation was in full force. He said they were celebrating MAC-P with the civil populace because without their support the operation would not have been successful.

In his statement the Paramount Chief PC Bai Shebora Kasanga II commend his people for their contribution and support to MAC-P and assured the security institutions of theircontinuous support in maintaining peace in the region.

The Deputy Mayor of Makeni City Council Madam Isatu Fofana explained that women usually suffer when violence erupts and expressed joy that all political parties kept their supporters under control in the region.

She praised the MAC-P operatives for their support in the implementation of operation WID, which aims to clear traders and motorcycle taxis fromMakeni town center.

Delivering the keynote address the Resident Minister northern region Alie D. Kamara said the MAC-P operations have strengthened the relationship between the RSLAF, SLP and other security personnel in the district.

Minister Kamara said while they appreciate the effort of MAC-P in ensuring peace in the country, they believe that the country should not have a situation in which MAC-P will be re-invoked.
