Sierra Leone’s foreign minister, Dr Samura Kamara has pledged US $ 1 Million on behalf of the Government of Sierra Leone towards the deployment of an International Support Mission to Mali (AFISMA). Dr. Kamara made the announcement at a donors’ conference on Mali at the African Union Commission in Addis Ababa, according to a statement from the Sierra Leone mission there. He also reiterated an earlier commitment made by President Ernest Bai Koroma send 650 troops to join AFISMA. The minister referred to the situation in Mali as “a painful reminder” and “a test case” for ECOWAS, the African Union and the international community.
