One Amie Mustapha from Kpava village in the Nongowa chiefdom Kenema district has made her second appearance before Magistrate Garson Lamin McCarthy of the Magistrate court No.11 in Kenema charged for attacking her husband with caustic soda.
According to the particulars of the offence, the woman on the 2nd of January, 2022 at Kpava splashed the substance believed to be caustic soda on her husband Thomas Mustapha. On Count one, she was accused of throwing the caustic soda on her husband, contrary to section 29 of the offences against the person Act of 1861.
On count two, she faces causing grievous bodily harm charge, also contrary to section 18 of the same offences against the person Act.
The wife was also on count three, charged for assault occasioning actual bodily harm contrary to section 47 of the same offences against the person Act.
The matter was prosecuted by Inspector A.M Teah from the Legal and Justice Department of the Sierra Leone Police whilst the accused was represented by defense lawyer J.B Dauda. The case will resume on the 18th January 2022 while the accused was remanded at the female correctional center in Kenema until then.
