The Executive Chairman of the Petroleum Regulatory Agency, PRA, Dr. Brima Baluwa Koroma has said in Bo that petroleum products would be in supply throughout Sierra Leone during the festive season. The PRA boss was addressing staff members at the start of a three day retreat at the Gaminess Paradise Hotel on the theme ‘an integrated approach in transforming the downstream petroleum value chain for optimum returns through balancing risks and opportunities’.
Brima Baluwa Koroma told his staff that to have served in President Bio's administration for over three years as Executive Chairman of PRA means the agency is doing well with their support and urged them to continue working hard. He said they retreated to Bo for frank discussions for the betterment of PRA and to plan for 2022.
The Executive Chairman disclosed that in January, 2022 staff members ‘who are not ready to work at PRA should start looking for another job because the agency will only maintain staff who are committed to work’.
He maintained that his vision is to ensure that government participates in the industry’s value chain with Sierra Leone to start importing its own petroleum products, storage and retail by complementing the efforts of the private sector and to develop a strategic plan for three years, 2022 – 2025, to ensure that the country provides, adequate petroleum products at affordable price to the people of Sierra Leone.
Dr. Koroma said that PRA has maintained the fuel pump price at Le 10,000.00 while in the sub region fuel is sold above that amount.
Hon. Charles Osman Abdulai, deputy chairman, parliamentary committee on trade said the retreat was important and timely noting that the relationship between PRA and the parliament committee on trade was very cordial. He assured the staff of the agency that the committee will always support them.
The Resident Minister for Southern Region, Mr. Mohamed E. K Alli spoke of the transformation that has taken place at the PRA since Dr. Koroma took over three years ago and urged him to continue doing his best in the New Direction.
The chairman for the occasion Mohamed Alfred Fullah said the recent study tour undertaken by the head of the PRA’s counterpart agency in Ghana points to the fact that Executive Chairman Koroma’s performance in the PRA is now worthy of emulation by other countries in West Africa.
