SANUSI COVID-19 indices update (28/06/21)

Sierra Leone recorded 12.85%, 13.41% and 5.41% increase in COVID-19 total infections, deaths and recoveries respectively over the week, from June 20 to June 27, 2021.

In comparison, Sierra Leone’s percentage increase in total infections was higher compared to Benin (0.37%), Burkina Faso (0.07%), Cape Verde (1.19%), Ivory Coast (0.30%), Gambia (0.75%), Ghana (0.36%), Guinea (1.03%), Guinea-Bissau (0.55%), Mali (0.24%), Niger (0.16%), Nigeria (0.15%), Senegal (1.22%), Togo (0.53%), the Manor River Union or MRU (2.13%), the Economic Community of West African States or ECOWAS (0.71%), Africa (3.97%), Europe (0.72%), North America (0.45%), South America (3.02%), Asia (1.78%) and the world (1.48%). However, percentage increase in total infections was higher in Liberia (24.52%) compared to Sierra Leone.

Moreover, Sierra Leone’s percentage increase in total deaths was higher compared to Benin (0.97%), Burkina Faso (0.60%), Cape Verde (1.78%), Ivory Coast (1.30%), Ghana (0.13%), Mali (0.19%), Nigeria (0.09%), Senegal (0.43%), Togo (0.79%), MRU (5.06%), ECOWAS (0.79%), Africa (2.61%), Europe (0.67%), North America (0.53%), South America (2.51%), Asia (2.43%) and the world (1.51%). Percentage increase in total deaths was higher in Liberia (18.95%) compared to Sierra Leone. Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau and Niger recorded zero increase in total deaths over the period.

Also, Sierra Leone’s percentage increase in total recoveries was higher compared to Benin (0.26%), Burkina Faso (0.05%), Cape Verde (1.38%), Ivory Coast (0.69%), Gambia (0.48%), Ghana (0.29%), Guinea (0.64%), Guinea-Bissau (0.45%), Mali (0.32%), Niger (0.42%), Nigeria (0.24%), Senegal (0.90%), Togo (0.37%), MRU (1.09%), ECOWAS (0.53%), Africa (2.73%), Europe (0.78%), North America (0.88%), South America (2.94%), Asia (1,97%) and the world (1.61%). Percentage increase in total recoveries was higher in Liberia (8.03%) compared to Sierra Leone.
