President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Isha Johansen, has in a press release on the 1st June 2020, quit her position as President of the FA.
Johansen stated that her new job as a FIFA Council Member requires a great deal of time and effort that will hinder her service to the Football Association. “My new role will require extensive global travelling and consequently increased demand on my time,” she stated in her resignation letter.
Johansen added that the decision to resign as FA president was a difficult choice for her and only came to terms with it after much deliberation.
She further stated that although she is resigning, she has however played her part in restoring integrity, compliance and good governance and added that she wishes for that line to continue.
She pledged her support to the new SLFA Executive and promised to render her help whenever the need arises. She expressed her gratitude to her fans for the support they renderedto her.
Meanwhile popular football stakeholder, Rodney Michael has in a short statement extended his best wishes to Johansen. Michael praised her for taking such a decision, citing that Sierra Leone football needs a new path that respects all parameters of the game for growth.
He said irrespective of his differences with Johansen, he however commands respect for her and will look forward to working with her at the international scene if he is given the opportunity to become president of the FA.
