US actor and activist, Isaiah Washington has described Kao Denero as Christopher Wallace aka Notorious B.I.G but stresses that the Sierra Leonean rapper sounds even better than the late Biggy. Isaiah Washington was hosted by Jackson Mvunganyi of VOA after his trip from Africa where he had been busy building schools and reconnecting with his ancestral home, Sierra Leone.
The 40-second-long video about his admiration for Kao Denero was uploaded on YouTube by the VOA journalist. Mvunganyi was holding a micro tape from which the track of Ice Prince was playing ‘Oleku’ whilst the chat on new African hip hop was ongoing.
But Washington was not interested in the track as he told the journalist about Kao saying “...And my boy Kao Denero, he is gotta get a deal with Bad Boy. He is got a victory album, he sounds like BIGGY but better. He is making a lot of noise around, I have met him in Sierra Leone. He brought out like 150,000 people. He is the King of Freetown, he is huge”.
As he had said that about Kao, he just waved off his hand on Ice Prince’s music. When he mentioned Kao’s name and went ahead to spell it, there was approval in the studio as if to suggest that the name had been heard before.
Kao Denero has now been referred to by two big celebrities, Jimmy B and now Isaiah Washington as the “King of Freetown”. He recently had a deal with Creative Factory in Atlanta Georgia and is expected to launch his Diamond Kid story album in Freetown on March 30
