SANUSI COVID-19 indices update (23/04/21)

Sierra Leone recorded 0.10% and 1.12% increase in COVID-19 total infections and total recoveries respectively in 24 hours, from Tuesday (10:00 am) to Thursday (06:00 pm).

In comparison, Sierra Leone’s percentage increase in total infections was lower compared to Benin (1.47%), Burkina Faso (0.14%), Cape Verde (2.68%), %), Ivory Coast (0.28%), Gambia (1.19%), Guinea (0.15%), Liberia (2.40%), Mali (1.45%), Niger (0.19%), Nigeria (0.11%), Senegal (0.19%), Togo (0.83%), the Manor River Union or MRU (0.29%), the Economic Community of West African States or ECOWAS (0.35%), Africa (0.49%), Europe (0.82%), North America (0.44%), South America (1.20%), Asia (2.55%) and the world (1.19%). However, percentage increase in total infections was lower in Ghana (0.08%) and Guinea-Bissau (0.03%) compared to Sierra Leone.

Cape Verde (2.59%) recorded the highest percentage increase in total deaths compared to Benin (2.11%), Burkina Faso (0.65%), Ivory Coast (1.09%), Gambia (0.59%), Ghana (0.13%), Mali (2.27%), Niger (0.53%), Senegal (0.09%), Togo (0.83%), MRU (0.52%), ECOWAS (0.44%), Africa (0.59%), Europe (0.77%), North America (0.38%), South America (1.50%), Asia (1.43%) and the world (0.91%). Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone recorded zero increase in total deaths over the period.

Moreover, Sierra Leone’s percentage increase in total recoveries was lower compared to Benin (11.62%), Cape Verde (1.70%), Liberia (1.95%), Mali (2.04%), Togo (1.96%), South America (1.44%), Asia (1.99%) and world (1.18%). Percentage increase in total recoveries was lower in Burkina Faso (0.31%), Ivory Coast (0.26%), Ghana (0.06%), Guinea (0.07%), Guinea-Bissau (0.89%), Niger (0.69%), Nigeria (0.04%), Senegal (0.18%), MRU (0.29%), ECOWAS (0.47%), Africa (0.64%), Europe (0.91%) and North America (0.57%) compared to Sierra Leone. Gambia (1.12%) recorded the same percentage increase in total recoveries as Sierra Leone.
