Two people, alleged to be thieves, were left critically injured on the streets of Freetown yesterday after being mobbed by unknown people.

The two men, in their late 20s, were found at Mammah Street and at Old Railway Line by Bailey Street, Brookfields in Freetown.

A lady, who prefers anonymity, identified the two guys to be among other some thugs who had attacked their house around 3:00am yesterday. She said they were well armed with knives and cutlasses.

“They jumped across the fence into our compound with some kind of knives and cutlasses that I have never seen before,” she said, adding that they were all females in the compound and were unable to defend themselves against the armed rubbers.

“We were unable to defend ourselves because we are all women in the compound and all we could do was to shout for help. While shouting, they threatened to stab us with their knives and cutlasses,” she said.

She also said that they were left shocked and petrified until sunrise.

According to her, there have been several attacks by thieves in Brookfields lately even though police mostly patrol at night.

Residents say the two men came from the Kroo Bay slum. They were later taken away by the police.

Deputy Police Media and Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent Samuel Saio Conteh, told Politico that they were still in a critical condition at the Connaught Hospital. No arrests have been made.
