Public Relations Officer of People’s Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC), Muniru Koroma, has told Politico that his party is planning well ahead of the 7 November to stage a grand rally in Freetown and paint the city orange, the colour of the party.

He admitted that they might not have made conscious efforts to register their presence at previous rallies but assured that the Wednesday outing would be impressive in Freetown.

Mr Koroma said they were a Third Force with seats in the recently dissolved house of parliament but that they had not been seen to be making much impact in Freetown as most of their campaign dates were not utilised when compared to the two major parties –APC and SLPP.

He said they had, nonetheless, campaigned and rallied in other parts of the country like Kambia in the north, and Kono and Kailahun in the eastern province. He also explained that their party’s house-to-house campaign strategies were different to those of 2007.

He claimed that “rallies of both APC and SLPP are full of violence and motherly invectives”, assuring that on Wednesday they would display “placards” and that no invectives would be used.

He also alleged that other parties had been paying people and giving t-shirts free-of-cost.
