A Magistrate court at Pademba Road in Freetown has postponed the testimony of the country’s Pathologist, Dr Owiz Koroma in the preliminary investigation into the alleged murder of journalist, Ibrahim Samura to Tuesday 1st November.
Magistrate Mark Ngegba had to adjourn the case following an application by the lead defense lawyer, Melron Wilson Nicol, who cited concerns over the health of his clients.
Lawyer Nico-Wilson told the court he was “respectfully applying for this matter to be adjourned for a very short period of time due to the fact that one of the accused persons, Herbert George Williams, is very sick. I noticed his condition just before 2:00pm. There is urgent need to see the prison doctor or any other doctor.”
The lead state counsel lawyer Adrian Fisher did not object to the application.
Hebert George Williams and Abubakarr Daramy are both facing two counts of murder and conspiring with other unknown persons to commit grievous bodily harm. They were appearing for the second time in court on Tuesday.
Magistrate Mark Ngegba adjourned the case to Friday, November 1st. Before that, he expressed concern over the state witness’ availability in court for the next adjourned date, due to his busy schedule. But the pathologist told the court that “I am a professional doctor. I will come at any time agreed by the court.
