The Criminal Investigation Department of the Sierra Leone Police in Bo is investigating the mysterious death of a man suspected to have been murdered.
27 year old Alhaji Alieu Shour`s body was found lying in his bed, according to police.
The incident, which happened in the regional headquarters division of Bo West, was reported to the police by neighbors of the victim, Inspector Abu-Bakarr Sidikie Kamara, Acting Crime Officer, told Politico. He said the incident took place on August 24, at 63 Baimba Road, Dorba Ground Section
The police have cordoned the crime scene as part of their investigation, he said.
“This is a mysterious death as the body of the deceased was found on his bed in an unusual position with two serious wounds on the head and neck," Inspector Kamara revealed.
He said the head of the deceased was positioned on the foot side of the bed, adding: "there was a deep wound in the head that exposed the brain to light. And scientifically there was no way for him to survive.”
The bed drenched in blood when investigators arrived at the scene, the officer said.
The police also said they received a tipoff from an unidentified person.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was a businessman who traded in jewelries, watches, call cards (top up) and other items used by women, the police said. The compound where the victim lived belonged to his US-based elder brother, police also found.
According to sources, the victim usually left his house to his business center before 7am.
Upon monitoring his phone, the police also discovered that he had victim had a love relation with a school going girl whose picture was found in the phone.
Inspector Kamara said there was no indication of struggle on the body, and that neighbors said the door to the room of the deceased was still shut from inside when the body was discovered.
The incident has rekindled bad memories.
Two months ago the same area witnessed a similar incident involving a woman, mysteriously killed and her body discovered in the odd hours of the night. Police later found out that she`d received a call from someone to meet her at some point.
The police lamented the reluctance of the mobile phone operators to cooperate in investigations which they say have forced them to release the lone suspect in the death of the woman.
Similar incidents have occurred in neighboring Pujehun District when in 2013 27-year old Juma Kamara was gang raped to death at the Holy Family Primary School, a stone-throw from the main police station. And in February 2014 another body of a woman was discovered in Kpatemei Village in the Sorogbeima chiefdom, along the Mano River border in the same southern region.
The Bo-based police officer Inspector Kamara said such incidents have also been prevalent in Moyamba and Bonthe districts.
