The principal witness in the matter between the Inspector General of Police, John Keister and Daniel Conteh, involving alleged assault of journalist Thomas Dixon, yesterday testified at the Pademba Road Magistrates Court No 5.
According to the particulars of offence the accused were being tried on allegations of assault, causing actual bodily harm, trespass and public insult against the complainant on 18 November 2014 at his King Williams Street residence in Freetown.
Detective Sergeant Abdul Rahman Sheriff, attached to the Adelaide Street police station, said both accused allegedly entered the house of the complainant, Dixon, insulted and assaulted him despite having been warned against doing so.
In particular one of the accused persons, John Keister, assaulted the complainant resulting in bodily harm.
He also testified that the residence of the complaint was identified by one Chris Kamara whom he said did not enter the house of the complaint but stood outside, waiting. He added that witnesses also testified to him at the police station that both accused entered the house of the complainant, “using insulting and obscene languages especially from the first accused John Keister”.
The matter was adjourned for today, Thursday 11 December 2014.
