Sierra Leone improves on corruption index

The latest global corruption index released yesterday shows Sierra Leone has moved upwards.

The 2014 Transparency International Corruption Perception Index (TI-CPI) puts the country at 119 out of 174 countries surveyed in 2014.

This ranks it ahead of “Gambia, Togo, Cameroon, Nigeria, Kenya,  and even Russia” according to a release by the Anti-Corruption Commission in Freetown.

“Sierra Leone has made steady progress in the fight against corruption” an ACC release says, adding “the country has moved 39 spaces upwards in the TI rankings within the last five years, from 158 in 2008 to 119 in 2014”.

CPI is an annual survey carried out by the global anti-graft watchdog to assess perceived levels of public sector corruption across the world.
