OXFAM to boost Ebola Centers in Sierra Leone

By Mustapha Kamara

Information and communication officer for the British charity organisation Oxfam in Sierra Leone says the organisation will be distributing items including disinfectants, electric pumps, hand washing stations, pump and toilet spare parts and other water and sanitation kits to be used at different Ebola centres in Bombali and Koinadugu districts in the north, and in Freetown.

"We've been doing a lot to respond to the Ebola outbreak in the country and we will continue to step up our response", Alpha Kamara said.

He said that as a nongovernmental organisation that aimed to promote water and sanitation, Oxfam had built taps, provided buckets for hand washing and other sanitation materials so people would be able to maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and keep their environment clean.

He said that in collaborations with other NGOs, OXFAM had been supporting Ebola suspects in quarantined homes.

The current shipment is valued at $ 10,000.
