Telecommunications company, Africell, has handed out 226 prizes worth over Le103 million to subscribers who took part and won in the on-going ‘play and win’ promotion being held at their offices on Wilberforce.
While he presented the awards chief corporate affairs officer, Joe Abass Bangura Jnr, commended the lucky ones for winning wonderful prizes. He said the promotion was meant to give back to society in different ways.
“Giving back to our subscribers is what we love to do best.We consider our subscribers as our top most priority”, he said, pointing out that there were more prizes in store for subscribers to win throughout the world cup period.
He maintained that the promotion was open to all Africell subscribers who wanted to take part, adding that the weekly star prize of Le5m had been increased to Le10m in order to give more to subscribers and to enable them win more goodies.
The corporate boss also explained that to qualify for the promotion, subscribers must send a blank SMS to or call 777 for just 10 units, and a 10 on-net unit would be awarded for the attempt. The 10 unit bonanza must be utilized before midnight of the same day to make Africell calls only.
Sixteen qualifiers would be chosen electronically on a daily basis, 8 of whom would be invited to the studios to participate in the show, while the other 8 would be paired up by phone with the studio participants.
During the show, he said, several football games would be played among them free kicks into a goal full of defenders, or with live goal keeper (male or female goal keeper), lobbying and head butting into drums and rings of various sizes.
The final stage, he said, would include subscribers searching for the golden ball where the qualifiers would have to locate among 30 footballs, the one containing the golden coin to win the star prize of Le 10million on a daily basis.
He continued to explain that all prizes would be shared equally between the studio and phone participants. But in a situation where the participants failed to win, a consolation prize would be awarded to both participants, he added.
Speaking on behalf of the winners, Alima Kamara, described the promotion as the best ever in the country as she had been lucky to win Le5m which she confessed was the biggest amount she had ever owned. She encouraged others who had not won prizes to continue sending blank SMS to 777 or call the same number to enable them qualify and win.
