Management of Diamond Stars Football Club has criticized the manner of Coach Tito Cole's resignation saying it was disrespectful and lacked regard for the rules of the game.
In a press statement issued by the club on the 5th March, 2024, it informed supporters and fans that the club has received a resignation letter from Coach Tito Cole. It noted that the Coach is under contract for Diamond Stars for three seasons, and that his contract will expire in 2025.
It stated that Tito’s allegations that the club did not fulfill what it promised him in the contract are “unsubstantiated and a drive to taint the club's stature.”
The club indicated in the statement that since his appointment as coach, he has never gone without his salary being paid to him and his directives being met to support him deliver the necessary results.
“The club wants to categorically state that Coach Tito Cole still has a contract with us’’ and which has not run out. ‘’We consider his act an insubordination and lack of professionalism,” part of the statement reads.
It allayed the concerns of fans and that the team is still in safe hands, and assures all of a better performance in the second phase of the Leone Rock Premier League.
While the management of Diamond Stars is in preparation for the second leg of the premier league, it announced that Issa Conteh who is the assistant coach- 1 is the new caretaker head coach of the team until a new coach is announced.
It could be recalled that former Coach Tito Cole resigned from Diamond Stars citing the club’s failure to pay his salary from some months and to fulfill other promises indicated in the contract.
