Three men accused of murder have been remanded in custody by Principal Magistrate Mark Ngegba in Freetown. Mohamed Samura, 32 Mohamed Lamin Dumbuya, 30, and Hardy Momodu Evelyn Jabbie, 30 are accused of killing one Samuel Abubakarr Kargbo on 27th February 2023.
When they appeared before Magistrate Mark Ngegba on Monday 27th March 2023 they pleaded not guilty to two counts of conspiracy and murder. The first accused Mohamed Samura, a resident of 12 Bailey Street Brookfields in Freetown, a tall and gallant man broke down in the dock as he focused on the police prosecutor.
After the police prosecutor Assistant Superintendent Ishmael S. Mansaray requested for an adjournment to have a conference with his first witness, the lead defence lawyer Roland Nylander urged the magistrate to expedite the preliminary investigation and requested for the prosecution to bring two witnesses per session.
Magistrate Ngegba assured the defence team of a speedy preliminary investigation but noted that he couldn’t guarantee the prosecution would produce two witnesses per session.
The case resumes on Monday 3rd March 2023.
