In Cricket…Tense Battle Ahead for Salone Women

The Sierra Leone women's national cricket team is expecting a tough challenge in the East, North West African [ENWAC] Cricket competition to be held in Banjul, the Gambia in May, 2014. The event will feature women’s cricket team from the three zones in Africa with the aim of exposing women cricketers and expanding the game in the African region.

FA Cup Draw…Premier League teams face stiff ties

The draw for the next round of the FA Cup has been held at the SLFA Secretariat in Freetown over the weekend. Thirty- two teams qualified for this knock out stage of the competition which will involve sixteen ties at home and away basis. The draw  was  witnessed by football stake holders, club officials, coaches and Sports Journalists.

WAFA FA Cup finals today… Real Mack vs. Ibrahim FC

Real Mack FC will take on Ibrahim FC in the Western Area Football Association (WAFA) FA Cup grand finals at the national stadium today.

Both teams qualified to the round of 32 teams joining the likes Nottingham Forest, Dollarosa, B-Strikers, and others from the western region. Both teams eliminated sides that were tipped to reach the finals.

Real Mack scored ten goals in four matches conceding two goal while Ibrahim FC scored eight goals and conceded three from the same number of matches.

SPL to Begin this weekend

The long awaited Salone Premier League (SPL) is said to start this weekend Saturday 22nd March in various venues across the country, according to a member of the media committee of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA).

Asked about the sponsors of the league, he said only Sierra Leone Brewery limited has provided one hundred million Leones of sponsorship money

A member of the Premier League Board (PLB) Idrissa Mago Tarawallie confirmed the commencement of the league and hoped that more sponsors will come on board.

ISHA JOHANSEN BOOSTS AHMADIYYA KISSY

The president of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Isha Johansen has presented 200 bags of cement, a full set of football jersey, five million Leones and fifty scholarships to pupils of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Secondary School in Freetown.

She made the presentation yesterday at the school’s ground, Kissy Dockyard.
