Mackinstry commends debutants

The head coach of the national team Johnny Mackinstry has praised players who made their début for the national team in the first leg match against Swaziland. He described them as "national properties".

Mackinstry said "I'm impressed with their brilliant performance and am sure they will replicate that performance if given the chance to play at home". The Irish man said his team started training "a few days back as most of the invited players have arrived and a few more are expected within a day or two to join the others in training".

Kenema celebrates FA Cup win

Fans of Kamboi Eagles football club in Kenema, are celebrating their team's capture of this year's FA cup after defeating favourites East End Lions from Freetown by 3 goals to 2 at the Bo stadium last weekend.

The fans were packed in a fleet of cars and on hundreds of motorbikes about seven miles outside Kenema at a place called Bandama Checkpoint where they received they returning heroes before driving into the town.

"I felt honored amongst my Colleagues" - Kallon

The former Captain of the national football team Mohamed Kallon has been awarded as the all time African highest goal scorer in Italian football.  Kallon said he felt honoured among fellow players like El-Haji Diouf, KaliluFadigaandAboubacarrTitiCamara, at a ceremony organized by TV 5 and other renowned French Sports journalists in Africa.

Osman Charlie wins Makeni Marathon

Osman Charlie, the winner of the 2014 Sierra Leone Marathon, has said that he ran for his fellow street kids, and that he was able to feed off the crowd’s energy as they chanted his name.

When Information and Communication Minister Alpha Kanu handed him the trophy, Charlie said “I have won for the kids in the street, having also grown up in the street and fending for myself, I want to give back everything I have for them.”

MICHAEL FOUNDATION WITHDRAWS NATIONAL COACH

Division One (I) side Edmond Michael Foundation says it has withdrawn its "consent as a club" for the SLFA-appointed coach of the national Under-20 team, Shooting Stars, "to carry on as head coach...under such circumstances where we now have two different sets of technical teams for the national Under - 20s, one appointed the ministry and one by the FA".

LEOCEM FA Cup Final...EE Lions Meets Kamboi Eagles

All roads lead to the southern city of Bo on Sunday 25th May for the final of the Leocem - sponsored FA Cup between East End Lions from the Western Area and Kamboi Eagles from the Eastern headquarter town of Kenema.

The head coach of EE lions Christian Cole remains confident of winning the FA cup for the very first time since he took over the club as head coach last year. Cole said "it is not an easy task to defeat Kamboi Eagles because they have a very strong team with a very good technical staff".
