NRA donates bus to FBC

Deputy Vice Chancellor Fourah Bay College, FBC, Wednesday received the keys to a 24-seater Toyota bus donated to his institution by the National Revenue Authority to help convey students to and from classes.

Professor Sahr Gbamanja said with FBC having acquired two similar buses, the new one would be a most welcomed addition to the fleet. He said most of the commercial vehicles plying the Model - FBC route were “not roadworthy and with five buses, we can get them off the road.”

The chairman of the Board of Directors of NRA, lawyer Sulaiman Kabba Koroma, said they were happy to play a part in the development activities now taking place on FBC campus and pledged that the organisation stood ready to help “preserve and support FBC at all times...that's why we are providing a safe and reliable means of transportation for the students.”

The chairman praised the recent initiative of the University administration to engage students, using the media while they prepared for the reopening of the University after the Ebola disease would have been brought under control.

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Sierra Leone, Professor Ekundayo Thompson, said the University of Sierra Leone was proud that it produced a good number of the senior management staff of the NRA and other such institutions.

He welcomed the gift and looked forward to more support for the University from the NRA. Professor Thompson used the occasion to announce that a $36.6m project that would transform the college would start very soon.
