A pregnant woman, Fatima Mansaray of Koko Street in Kabala was said to have poured liquid suspected to be acid on the face of her partner, Adam Saccoh.
The incident happened in the early hours of Friday 25th August 2023 in Kabala.
According to Detective Police Constable (D/P.C) Christiana Fambulleh of the Family Support Unit (FSU) Kabala Division who is leading the investigation, the couple got into an argument after the man returned home from an unexplained destination late into the night.
According to the officer, the heated argument degenerated into a physical confrontation, after the woman became unconvinced about her partner’s explanation about where he was.
DPC Fambulleh noted that from the investigations gathered at around 06:30hrs, the woman grabbed a container and splashed its content thought to be acid on Saccoh’s face.
Mansaray told the police that she had secretly kept the said liquid for some time.
Saccoh, who was first escorted by a friend to the Kabala police station, has been admitted at the Kabala Government Hospital, whilst his partner is in police custody.
According to the police, Mansaray who is said to be around her early twenties is traditionally wedded to Saccoh.
In an interview with Politico, the Information Officer at the Kabala Police Division, Patrick J.F Conteh noted that based on intelligence he gathered, the couple had been at loggerheads for a very long time. He said he was told that the wife has been suspecting the husband of having another relationship since he started coming home late, which warranted her to keep the suspected acid.
