59-year-old Kadie Hassan’s lifeless body was found under her bedroom mattress at her Bofla Community residence between Benguema Road and Fulla Town in Waterloo, in the Western Rural Area.
According to police officers at the Waterloo division, the deceased woman was found with her two ears mutilated and her feet tied, with lacerations all over her body.
The 59-year-old woman’s mutilated body was discovered in the evening hours of Wednesday 5th July 2023 after her neighbors had alerted the police.
The Media officer and spokesperson of the Waterloo Police Division, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Alieu Jalloh told Politico that they responded to distress calls from the Bofla Community and were led to a one-room and a parlor house inhabited by the deceased whose body was discovered at the scene. He said after inspecting the body, they convened the corpse to the Connaught Hospital Mortuary where a pathologist performed an autopsy and the results sent to them.
He said though there has been no arrest so far, they are currently investigating to ascertain who might have killed the woman in her house.
ASP Jalloh recalled that since he has been working at Waterloo for the past two years, Bofla community has not yet recorded any serious crime like robbery, sexual - related cases, not to talk of killing. He said the killing incident in the community is very unprecedented, saying the inhabitants are all very responsible people, though a criminal cannot be identified by their looks.
The Waterloo Police media officer reiterated that the people of the township have been very cooperative in helping them with investigations. He said for a very long time Waterloo has been known for bad things, but with the recent appointment of the Local Unit Commander (LUC), Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Mohamed Ibrahim Samai, things are beginning to look better.
According to Police sources Waterloo has the highest concentration of criminality in the entire country.
