A Police witness has identified in court the clothes of slain Fourah Bay College Lecturer, Kabba Santigie Bangura whose body was found in a shallow grave in a shrine-like room inside the house of a herbalist at Mile Four, just outside Waterloo in the Western Rural District.
Information Officer, Detective Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Alie Jalloh was testifying at the Pademba Road Court No.1 on Wednesday 16th August 2023 where he confirmed that the coloured shirt and blue trousers contained in a black plastic bag were those of Bangura.
Led by Police Prosecutor, Inspector Tamba A.P Sellu, the witness told the Presiding Magistrate, Mark Ngegba that on the 16th of April this year, he got information from community people that there was a corpse in the house of the 34-year-old accused Ibrahim M. Kalokoh.
He said upon his arrival at the scene, there was a foul smell coming from one of the rooms in the house of the accused, and flies were hovering about.
The Police witness further told the court that with the help of some community residents, they searched the room where the flies were coming from and found a mound of earth that resembled a grave, which they dug up and found the clothes of the deceased.
He said he took photographs of the clothes using his mobile cell phone and posted them on social media. Later he said a group of people went to the Waterloo Police Division in connection to the photos on social media.
The police witness also noted that the people together with a team of police officers including the Local Unit Commander of Waterloo Police Division, Chief Superintendent Ibrahim Sama went to the scene.
He said the wife of the deceased; Rosaline Ya Alimamy Bangura identified the clothes as those of her husband which she said he was wearing the day he was last seen.
The lecturer was declared missing by the Police on the 6th of March this year. His body was later found buried inside one of the rooms in the accused’s house on the 16th of April.
The accused is facing a one-count murder charge. The case resumes on 23rd August.
