A Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for West Africa through the UN Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS), Leonardo Santos Simao is to visit Sierra Leone “within the scope of a regional tour, and in the context of UNOWAS support for a peaceful electoral process in Sierra Leone’’, a release from the organisation said.
The UN envoy is expected to have an audience with sitting President Julius Maada Bio of the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) and All Peoples Congress (APC) Presidential Candidate,Dr. Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara.
He is also to meet with Sierra Leone’s Foreign Minister,Prof.David Francis , Inspector –General of Police, William Fayia Sellu,Chief Electoral Commissioner , Mohamed Konneh, Mano River Union Secretariat Secretary-General Maria Harrison, and other officials of diplomatic missions in the country.
The four day visit starts 22 June and ends 25 June. Mr. Simao will be accompanied by three other officials including Moudjib Djinadou the Director of Political Affairs.
