Police in Mile 91 in the Tonkolili district are investigating the deaths of two men in a twisted case of intense jealousy and vengeful mob justice. Manna Kallon and Sorie Ibrahim Koroma both of Mathoir village along the Masiaka-Mile 91 Highway died following an acrimonious love triangle in which 27 year-old Fatmata Kamara was also a key figure.

The two men according to police report, were both commercial motorbike riders who were at some point in time  in a love relationship with Fatmata a mother of one.

Speaking to Politico, the Local Unit Commander of Mile 91 Police division Superintendent Mohamed Dumbuya said they received a report in the early hours of Saturday 25th February this year that 35-year-old Koroma  had been killed by Kallon.

According to Police investigations, Kallon attacked Koroma after he learned that he had attended a show with Fatmata. It was claimed that in the fight that ensued, Kallon stabbed Koroma with a sharp object on the left of Koroma’s chest, who then  dropped dead.

The officer  said they got the report but before they could reach the scene  about 15 miles away from Mile 91, the news of Koroma’s killing had already  reached his family in nearby Makukary village about 4 miles away from Mathoir.

The dead man’s relatives  then mobilized and rushed to the scene and also attacked 55-year-old Kallon with sticks and stones, killing him instantly. They also burned down three houses in the village including Koroma’s family house, before the police could reach the scene.

Superintendent Dumbuya said eight suspects including Fatmata have been arrested and are currently helping the police with their investigations. Fatmata has a 3-year-old boy for the deceased Koroma.

It was reported that Fatmata’s mother had openly expressed her opposition to Kallon’s relationship with her daughter since he never showed any inclination to marry her. The lady was not cohabiting with any of the men at the time of their deaths.
