Two accused persons Edward Kargbo and Abibatu Kargbo a lactating mother at the Nyandeyama section in Kenema have made their first appearance in court before magistrate Abdul Carew of Court No.1, on two counts of charges.
The two accused persons Edward Kargbo and Abibatu Kargbo both being a couple at Nyandeyama section in Kenema on the 21st of December 2021 were arrested by police and charged to court for census-related offences.
According to the particulars of offenses, they both were charged on Count (1) failing to answer questions from the enumerator officers contrary to section 21 (3) (a) of statistics Act No.13 of 2002 and count (11) obstructing the work of statistic officer contrary to section 21 (3) (b) of statistic Act No.13 of 2002.
The accused persons pleaded guilty to the two-count charges while the second accused Abibatu Kargbo was granted bail on the ground of being a lactating mother, the first accused Edward Kargbo was remanded at the male correctional center in Kenema and the matter was adjoined to 28th December 2021. The matter was prosecuted by ASP Daniel Konneh from the justice sector department of the Sierra Leone police Kenema division while the accused were represented by lawyer J.B Dauda.
