The Director of Support for the UN Mission in Somalia (UNSOM), Amadu Kamara (pictured) has refuted reports that he has been sacked for alleged fraud.

“The allegations contained in the alleastafrica.com publication are false and unfounded. I am still employed in good standing at the UN”, Kamara told Politico in a telephone interview from Nairobi.

He said there was no allegation against him at his workplace referring to the publication as “malicious”.

Kamara, a Sierra Leonean who is also Director of UNSOA, the UN outfit which provides support to AU troops in Somalia, said he was on his way to Uganda on official assignment and would be back in Somalia at the weekend.

The AllEastAfrica story alleges that Kamara was dismissed on Tuesday.

Kamara has served various UN missions. During the 2014/15 Ebola outbreak in West Africa, he headed the UN Ebola mission in his native country.
