Sierra Leone Gov’t, CSOs and media meet in Bo today

For the second time in as many years, journalists and civil society activists from across the country have gathered in the south city of Bo for the 2nd annual review of the key achievements of President Bio’s government.

According to the program for the two-day event, which opens this morning, activities are divided into seven clusters: Human capital development, the economy, infrastructure and economic competitiveness, governance and accountability for results, empowering women, children, adolescents and persons with disability, youth empowerment, sport and migration, addressing vulnerabilities and building resilience.

According to the Minister of Information, Mohamed Rahman Swaray, the annual media retreat which  started as an initiative to promote government/ media and Civil society dialogue has now become an annual pilgrimage which every public official, journalist and civil society leader looks forward to “as it provides an opportunity where curiosity meets clarification. All roads lead to Bo as we converge there from 25th-28th November,” he said.

The last meeting which was also held in Bo saw MDAs presenting their areas of intervention and challenges encountered since they took office in 2018 as a government.
