The administration of the Bo Government Secondary School for Boys has slammed eight pupils with an indefinite suspension from the school. The eight reportedly skipped school and hid themselves in the ceiling of their dormitories.
In a statement released by the school, the authorities say “all warnings from their town masters fell on deaf ears”. They say such a behavior was unacceptable in the school with the boys therefore suspended indefinitely and must vacate the dormitories “with immediate effect”.
They said the action “will serve as a warning for other pupils who do not know their purposes of being here”.
Four of the pupils are in Junior Secondary School whiles the remaining four are in the Senior Secondary school.
Four of those suspended are from Paris dormitory, three from Liverpool and the remaining one is from the Manchester dormitory.
Acting Principal of the school, George Evans Kweku said the decision was in line with the school’s code of conduct and the undertaking signed by parents on behalf of their children.
"Last Thursday, assembly was on. So, as usual teachers went to check the dormitories and when the pupils knew that the teachers were around, they went into the ceilings and others were found around the school quarters while assembly was going on. They went against rules they and their parents signed.”
Kweku said a committee was set up “to look into the crimes they committed and the outcome of that investigation prompted the indefinite suspension”.
He added: "The Bo School has lost its glory over the years but I have to maintain discipline at all times. I don't hate those we have suspended, they are my children, I take them just like my children at home and the good discipline I give my children is what I want for my pupils and this is not the first time we have taken such a decision."
Bo school is one of the oldest schools in the country. Founded in 1906, the school is renowned for quality education and discipline.
