Sierra Leone and Saudi Arabia to strengthen ties

In an effort to strengthen the bilateral relationship between Sierra Leone and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sierra Leone’s mission, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are set to sign a cooperation agreement.

The agreement between the two countries according to officials would promote cooperation between the two nations in the areas of trade, investment, education, science, culture, tourism sports and the economy, among others.

According to report by Sierra Leone’s Press attaché to Saudi Arabia, Abubakarr S. Bah, the Ambassador Dr. Ibrahim Jalloh, Ambassador in a visit to the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs had a discussion with Ambassador Hassan Al-Rashid, Director of Africa on several issues such as  Cooperation in the field of Education, research, science, and technology as well as increasing scholarships in support of Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio's Free Quality Education Programme for undergraduate students to pursue various courses abroad.

 Cooperation in the field of culture, sports, and youth affairs through coordination of stances in international forums; Reciprocal allocation of land for the construction of Embassies for both countries; Establish a labour agreement between the two countries to enable Sierra Leoneans to live and work in Saudi Arabia formed parts of the discussions held.
