Showdown in Sierra Leone FA

The Secretary General of the Western Area Football Association has told Politico that a group of football stakeholders will meet today to "invoke Article 28 of the SLFA constitution which says among other things that 'The executive committee shall convene an extraordinary congress if 50% of the delegates of SLFA make such a request in writing...An extraordinary congress shall be held within 90 days by the executive committee..."

Article 28 says further that the members who request such may convene the congress themselves. As a last resort, the members may request assistance from FIFA".

Kasho Holland-Cole said they had still not received an official reply to their letter calling for the congress to be convened in line with this provision.

SLFA officials contacted on the issue refused to comment but unofficial sources have told Politico that the body has no intention to call a congress now - almost one year since they came into office following controversial elections.
