SANUSI COVID-19 indices update (18/09/20)

Sierra Leone recorded 1.04% and 0.61% increase in COVID-19 total cases and total deaths respectively in 48 hours, from Tuesday (10:00 am) to Thursday (10:00 am).

In comparison, Sierra Leone’s increase in total cases was higher compared to Benin (0.57%), Ivory Coast (0.35%), Gambia (1.03%), Ghana (0.12%), Guinea (0.92%), Liberia (0.83%), Niger (0.17%), Nigeria (0.38%), Manor River Union or MRU (0.59%), the Economic Community of West African States or ECOWAS (0.59%) and Africa (1.03%). However, increases in total cases in Burkina Faso (1.81%), Cape Verde (2.87%), Mali (1.06%), Senegal (1.83%), Togo (1.90%), Europe (2.30%), North America (1.22%), South America (1.88%), Asia (2.95%) and the World (2.02%) were lower compared to Sierra Leone. Guinea-Bissau recorded zero increase in total cases.

Cape Verde (4.44%) recorded the highest increase in total deaths compared to Gambia (3.88%), Nigeria (0.74%), Senegal (0.67%), ECOWAS (0.63%), Africa (1.40%), Europe (0.62%), North America (1.19%), South America (1.46%), Asia (2.28%) and the World (1.33%). Benin, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Sierra Leone, Togo and MRU recorded zero increase in total deaths over the period.

Moreover, Sierra Leone’s increase in total recoveries was lower compared to Burkina Faso (2.20%), Cape Verde (4.48%), Ivory Coast (0.63%), Gambia (7.43%), Guinea (2.78%), Mali (0.96%), Nigeria (7.97%), Senegal (1.83%), Togo (2.16%), MRU (1.27%), ECOWAS (3.19%), Africa (1.82%), Europe (1.28%), North America (2.23%), South America (2.60%), Asia (3.03%) and the World (2.47%). Ghana (0.26%) and Liberia (0.08%) recorded lower increase in total recoveries compared to Sierra Leone. Benin, Guinea-Bissau and Niger recorded zero increase in total recoveries.
