SANUSI COVID-19 indices update (18/01/21)

Sierra Leone recorded 2.49% and 0.60% increase in COVID-19 total cases and total deaths respectively in 48 hours, from Thursday (10:00 am) to Saturday (10:00 am).

In comparison, Sierra Leone’s increase in total cases was lower compared to Burkina Faso (4.95%), Ivory Coast (2.77%), Niger (3.43%), Nigeria (4.62%), Togo (4.33%), the Economic Community of West African States or ECOWAS (2.88%), Africa (3.04%) and North America (2.99%). However, increase in total cases in Benin (1.49%), Cape Verde (2.16%), Gambia (0.31%), Ghana (0.99%), Guinea (0.29%), Liberia (0.32%), Mali (1.47%), Senegal (2.34%), Manor River Union or MRU (1.83%), Europe (2.26%), South America (2.25%), Asia (0.74%) and the world (1.62%) was lower compared to Sierra Leone. Guinea-Bissau recorded zero increase in total cases.

Burkina Faso (5.43%) recorded the highest increase in total deaths compared to Cape Verde (2.61%), Ivory Coast (0.71%), Gambia (1.60%), Ghana (0.89%), Mali (1.65%), Niger (1.22%), Nigeria (2.91%), Senegal (3.48%), MRU (0.26%), ECOWAS (2.25%), Africa (4.08%), Europe (2.24%), North America (2.74%), South America (1.43%), Asia (0.66%) and the world (1.53%). Benin, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Togo recorded zero increase in total deaths over the period.

Moreover, Sierra Leone’s increase in total recoveries was lower compared to Benin (0.71%), Burkina Faso (16.57%), Cape Verde (2.02%), Ivory Coast (1.60%), Ghana (0.88%), Mali (2.32%), Niger (14.16%), Nigeria (3.63%), Senegal (1.54%), Togo (2.05%), MRU (1.12%), ECOWAS (2.57%), Africa (2.85%), Europe (2.73%), North America (2.89%), South America (1.55%), Asia (0.70%) and the world (1.49%). Increase in total recoveries in Gambia (0.27%), Guinea (0.48%) and Liberia (0.24%) was lower compared to Sierra Leone. Guinea-Bissau recorded zero increase in total recoveries.
