The arrest, he said  came after the ASP received a distress call in the afternoon hours of February 2nd, 2023 from the College Principal, complaining the students to have been engaged in  riotous conduct and engaging in disorderly behavior during their 2022/2023 matriculation day. He further said that the students’ behavior led to the prevention of the free flow of traffic and disrupting the Matriculation Ceremony.

AIG Samadia affirmed that the investigation is in progress.

In another development, the Head of Media, Public Relations and Sports of the SLP, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Brima Kamara, presented to journalists Police Constable (PC) Swahib Bangura who was recently handed a FIFA badge by the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), which automatically qualified him a FIFA Referee.

According to Media One, prior to the appointment of Bangura as FIFA Referee, he had officiated a series of CAF matches across the African Continent and achieved a series of national and international sporting awards. He noted that the Inspector General of Police and the entire SLP are pleased with the appointment, as he said it goes to show that the SLP is diversified.

ACP Kamara also explained the reviews of the stripes on their uniforms also known as lanyards to depict the different categories of rank structure in the SLP. He explained that, from Sub Inspector to Chief Inspector will retain the black colour strip in their uniform.

He added that, Assistant Superintendent (ASP) to Chief Superintendent (CSP) will now use a black and white coloured lanyard; and Assistant Commissioner (ACP) to Inspector General (IGP) will use blue and white coloured lanyard. He explained that the move is in line with standard practice applicable in other Forces around the globe, but more particularly, African nations colonized by the British.

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) update which was presented by ASP Abu Bakarr Kargbo, informed the press about increasing incidences of fraudulent car deals in the country. He emphasized the various syndicates that operate the scam who are mostly seen advertising cars on social media platforms.
