Police in Bo have arrested eight people who are known to be members of a clique. All eight are accused of unleashing terror on the people of Batiyama Village in revenge for the death of one of their members, Junior Sannoh.
The Southern region Police spokesman, Mohamed Bobson Senu, explained to Politico that on the 9th of April, at 10pm, they received a call from Batiyama village from a concerned resident.
The Police say the caller reported the death of his step son, Junior Sannoh, who he found with a stab wound lying in a pool of blood.
No one was arrested in connection to his death.
Inspector Senu said the body was later buried and the grave marked for the body to be exhumed later, to help with the investigation.
Senu said since the funeral, the deceased’s family hasn’t showed up to give Police more detail about the incident.
However, he said Police received a call on Wednesday, 14th of April from the village saying the clique boys had gone on the rampage by vandalizing properties and assaulting people in revenge of the death of their former member.
"They burnt down thatch houses, chairs, etc,” Senu said.
Senu said the boys specifically asked for the son of the town chief, whom they believe was among those who killed Sannoh.
Eight of the boys were arrested and have now been charged to court. They face charges of larceny, felony, disorderly behavior, among others.
“This will serve as an example, so other boys will not repeat such,” Senu told Politico.
