Member of Parliament, Kadiatu Davies of Constituency 110, Western Area Rural District, has on Thursday 25th Movember, 2021 called on the government for swift action that could lead to the completion of the Number Two/Tokeh road under construction.
According to the MP, the project to construct the Waterloo to Tokeh road along the peninsula was initiated by Former President Ahmad Tejan Kabba, and was later taken over by the erstwhile All People’ Congress(APC) party government who took the project from Lumley to Number Two River.
The MP said in her 2018 maiden speech in parliament, she told President Julius Maada Bio to please continue with the project since government is continuity, but said nothing has been done so far.
She also pointed out that the distance to be covered by the project (Lumley to Tokeh) as stated in the 2022 budget is inappropriate, noting that it should be from Number Two River to Tokeh, because Lumley to Number Two had been completed by the past government.
In responding to her observation, the Acting Leader of government business in parliament, Bashiru Sililkie, of Constituency 082, Bo district, said the name, Lumley to Tokeh is the project title.
The completion of peninsula road project is among the other nine road projects across the country yet to be completed.
However, according to the budget they will be completed in 2022.
Ms. Davies also called on the government to assist her in the completion of the modern hospital project she had started in Adonkia, Goderich. She said the whole constituency has no good hospital. The MP, after again winning the 2020 bye election following her removal from the seat in parliament together with other nine APC MPs from a high court decision in 2019, has also made use of the opportunity to thank her constituent for the trust they have in her for consistently voting her in.
