A Sierra Leonean owned charity has donated assorted medical supplies worth $ 500, 000 to the district health management teams of Western Area rural and urban, in an effort to contain the Ebola outbreak.
Presenting the items, which included incubators and personal protective equipment, Mohamed Sangarie of Mohamed and Chris Development Company Ltd., said the donation was intended to “halt the spread of the Ebola virus in the country, particularly the Western Area.”
He said Ebola was more ravaging in the Western Area than in any other districts in the country, assuring that his company would continue to donate more so the health management teams in the two districts would be better placed to tackle the Ebola virus.
He assured the Freetown City Council, who received the donation, that “we will really make a difference in the fight.”
Freetown Mayor, Franklyn Bode Gibson assured the company that the items would be distributed to all government hospitals in the Western Area and to other parts of the country where Ebola was most prevalent.
“The donated items are actually lacking in most of our hospitals,” he said, adding that the items would help not only in the Ebola fight but also in keeping premature babies alive when they are delivered.
