Masada urges FCC to enforce by-laws

By Abdulai Gbla

National project manager for Masada, Ami Dumbuya has called on the Freetown City Council (FCC) to enforce by-laws prohibiting garbage dumping and street littering in the city.

Dumbuya told Politico that Masada was a private company, “ready to provide solution to the city’s lingering waste management problems, but not without the help of FCC”.

She said “Masada can clean the whole city and the next day it is engulfed by garbage again" adding, "If the FCC doesn’t step up and bring to life the by-laws, especially those that have to do with dumping of waste, then there is a problem”. She said Masada’s activities should be complimented by the FCC so that by-laws could be enforced in the municipality.

Dumbuya called on people in Freetown to be a bit patient with them because the process was still in progress. She added that Masada had its own heavy machinery and other equipment needed to embark on the cleaning exercise.

Public Relations Officer of FCC, Cyril Mattia assured Masada that henceforth the council was ready to perform its supervisory role in cleaning the city.
