Preliminary investigations have continued before Magistrate Mark Ngegba in Freetown into a one-count charge of shop breaking and larceny brought up against Alhaji Tunis Bangura.
Led in evidence by Police Prosecutor A.T Bangura, the witness Detective Police Constable Desmond Kamara attached to the Criminal Investigations Department at Regent Police Post recognized the accused and the complainant.
He recalled that he was on duty on the 3rd August 2020 when a case and inquiry file of shop breaking and larceny was brought to the station together with the accused as well as one Chisel and one Screwdriver.
He went on to note that the matter was allocated to him for further investigation and he obtained statement from the Complainant and the witnesses on the same day.
He went on to note that on the 4th August 2020 he obtained questions from the accused which was witnessed by Detective Police Constable 10617 Alie S.I.
He added that on the 5th August 2020, he visited the alleged scene of crime at the Jimmy Fox Campbell Bar and Restaurant at Grafton where he discovered two damaged steel doors locks which he took to the station.
He further noted that on the 10th August 2020, himself together with other officers conducted a search warrant at the house of the accused person and later charged him with the offence of shop breaking and larceny.
The prosecution alleges that the accused person 3rd August 2020, broke and entered into the Jimmy Fox Campbell Bar and Restaurant of James Alphonso Campbell and stole one black musical set mixer valued ten million Leones(Le 10,000,000), one black mobile rechargeable blue-tooth musical set speaker valued six hundred and fifty thousand Leones (Le 650,000), one Red 3000 Watts Stabilizer valued seven hundred and fifty thousand Leones (Le 750,000) and the sum of three million, nine hundred and ninety six thousand Leones (Le 3,996,000) all to the total value of twenty-one million, two hundred and fifty-six thousand Leones (Le 21,246,ooo) from the said James Alphonso Campbell.
The accused didn’t have a lawyer and the matter was adjourned to the 30th November 2020.
