Joseph Seilenga has been jailed for six months for stealing two thousand Leones (Le 2,000) and other items from the dwelling house of one Mohamed Bangura.
On Tuesday August 13, 2024 Magistrate Santigie Bangura, sentenced the 21 year-old after he confessed to the offences when the charge was read out to him. The magistrate said he took into consideration the fact that the convict was a first-time offender and he did not waste the court’s time.
Lawyer Hindolo Moiwo Gevao told the court that his client was being honest when he admitted committing the offence and saving time. He said the convict earlier informed him that he ventured to steal those items from the house of the complainant in order to cure a footsore he sustained from smoking the prohibited drug, Kush.
Lawyer Gevao said his client is an orphan and urged the magistrate to temper justice with mercy and give him a sentence that would send a message to others.
Seilenga was charged with one count of larceny in the dwelling house of the complainant stealing Le 2,000 and other items with a total of ten thousand, eight hundred Leone (Le10,800).
