Magistrate Hadiru Daboh of Ross Road Court No. 3 in Freetown has sentenced Ibrahim Bangura better known as SLA to one year imprisonment after he was found guilty of beating up his grandmother, Mama Rita Bainda.
Bangura was standing trial on one count of Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm.
The prosecution alleged that the accused on Tuesday 31st May 2022 at No. 58 Wright Street, Wellington, Freetown, assaulted Bainda in a manner thereby occasioning actual bodily harm.
Before handing down the sentence, Magistrate Daboh said the accused's conduct of attacking his grandmother is immoral, therefore making it “more unlawful to warrant the maximum jail term of one year for the offence as in the Act.”
The matter was prosecuted by Assistant Superintendent of Police J. Bangura.
