Justice Abdul Rahman Mansaray of the High Court in Kabala presiding over cases at the Special High Court Criminal Session in Mongo Bendugu, Falaba district has sentenced Alusine Kombor Marah to 30 years imprisonment on a three-count indictment, including sexually penetrating a three-year old.
State Prosecutor Augustine Yarimeh Sogbo Mansary said the accused sexually penetrated the three-year old on 17th November, 2020 in Lensenia Village, about eight miles from the district headquarter town of Mongo Bendugu.
The prosecutor told the court that the victim is a child whose pride has been taken or destroyed by her relative at a tender age adding that her womb has been destroyed to the extent that she may be unable to give birth in future. He said the accused also “caused bodily harm on the child with intent”.
The accused, Alusine Kombor Marah, a teacher at the Roman Catholic Primary School in the same village pleaded guilty on all the three counts.
Delivering his judgment on Wednesday 10th March 2021, Justice Abdul Rahman Mansaray said the accused didn’t waste the time of the court by pleading guilty and asking him to temper justice with mercy. He then sentenced him to a collective 30-year jail term on all three counts to run consecutively.
In another development, one Abu Sesay who was accused of receiving stolen property (Power Saw) worth Le12, 000, 000 was acquitted and discharged after he denied the allegation and the state prosecutor offered no evidence against him.
