One Mohamed Komasi, a resident of Magazine Cut in Freetown has appeared in court facing four counts of robbery with aggravation, wounding, wounding with intent and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The 32 year old is alleged to have robbed a bag from a truck driver called Osman Kamara. He is also accused of stabbing him on both hands at a place called Fire Burn in Freetown.
The victim told the court on Thursday 1st June 2023, that the attack took place around 5 to 6 o’clock in the morning of Saturday 20th May this year as he off-loaded goods he transported from upcountry. He said the accused snatched his bag and he chased him and tried to retrieve his bag and it was at that point that the accused stabbed him. He said onlookers chased the accused and retrieved the bag from him but that at that time some of the money had been scattered on the ground.
Kamara told the court that the bag contained money to buy 25 bags of cement.
He said he reported the matter to the Eastern Police Station, obtained a medical report and received treatment at Connaught hospital.
The accused who did not have a lawyer, cross examined the witness by pointing out Kamara actually interfered in a quarrel between him, (the accused) and Kamara’s apprentice but Kamara denied that saying the accused snatched his bag and snatched him.
The accused also alleged that it was in fact the prosecution witness that wounded him on his forehead, but that was also rejected.
