A man has appeared in court charged with tampering with electricity meters, property of the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA).
Sheku Steven appeared before Magistrate Mark Ngegba at the Pademba Road court on Wednesday 18th October 2023 with prosecutors alleging that on the 28th of September this year, at 46 Off Looking Town Kissy in Eastern Freetown, he willfully tampered with the EDSA energy meter.
Steven is also jointly charged with one Idrissa Amadu Tholly because, according to the prosecution they conspired with other persons unknown to the court to commit the offence.
The two accused persons were also said to have been found in unlawful possession of EDSA’s prepaid energy meter at Percival Street in Freetown and that the prepaid meters were reasonably suspected to have been stolen or obtained.
The accused however pleaded not guilty and were released on bail. The summary trial comes up on 27th October this year.
