The Leone Fam Social Club has donated dozens of bags of rice and cash to disable groups, youths and orphanages across Freetown. The donation is part of efforts to ease the suffering on Sierra Leoneans during the COVID 19 pandemic, according to the organization.
The beneficiaries includes Kroobay community, disable groups at Cotton Tree and Eastern Police, orphanages in the far eastern part of Freetown, including communities like Wellington, among others.
One of the beneficiaries, a member of the disable groups at the Cotton Tree thanked the organization for the donation and prayed for success in their endeavors.
"We are grateful for this donation especially during this period. Our brothers and sisters are far away in Belgium, but they decided to remember us during this period. May God guide and protect them,” he said.
Vice President of Leone Fam, Mohamed Bah, known as Bodalaba, explained that the organization is known for organizing social event in Belgium and that they decided to use proceeds from those events to support the less privilege Sierra Leoneans. Bodalaba said this donation will not be the last as they are now focusing on contributing to the development of Sierra Leone in their own way.
A representative of the organization in Sierra Leone, Alhaji Issa Kamara, who made the presentations on behalf of Leone Fam, said he was happy to do the presentations on behalf of all the members. He assured the beneficiaries that more support was on the way.
The Leone Fam organization is comprised of various Sierra Leoneans living in Europe. Every year they organized the Soul Boat Party in Antwerp, Belgium. The Soul Boat Party is one of the biggest African events in Antwerp, attracting people from all across Europe and from every African country.
