The Kenema District Coordinator for the Free Quality Education programme Abdul Karim Vangahun has told Politico that the district is prepared to release a total of 12,164 (Twelve thousand one hundred and sixty-four candidates) to take this year’s National Primary School Examination (NPSE) .
Speaking on the Ministry’s preparedness for the examination he said for the coming NPSE, thirty three examination centers have been created as way to mitigate some of the challenges of the previous years such as difficulty in accessing examination centers.
He added that one of the principal causes for the postponement of the examination was as a result of the delay in the submission of the continuous assessment grades to the Ministry as required.
He also said that the deputy director of education has summoned a meeting with supervisors of schools to get them carry out effective and efficient supervision of the exams in the respective zones and chiefdoms assigned, saying the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) office in Kenema has also written letters to all partners supporting all efforts in making sure that the district perform well in the conduct of the exams without any hindrance.
Vangahun said the ministry has linked up with the Police to ensure that the examination centers are conducive and free of malpractices. He therefore encouraged parents to control themselves and allow the children to take their exams in a peaceful atmosphere.
The district deputy director in the ministry Agnes Kamara said each inspector of schools will be at their deployment stations ahead of the exams to make sure that the necessary preparations are done before the actual examination time.
She called on heads of schools to do the necessary preparations in time to avoid stressing the candidates in arranging their own sitting positions.
”We want to assure parents that this year NPSE will be a good different, she stated’’.
She also revealed that the ministry will ensure all the examination materials are at the various centers ahead of time in order to prevent delay with twelve new centers having been established in Kenema to ease the burden on parents and the children themselves.
