Four teams are bracing up for the first edition of Rangers Cup in Bo. The competition which will be organized by Bo Rangers will feature three other premier league clubs; Kamboi Eagles, Diamond Stars and FC Kallon.

This is the first time any premier league team in the country is organizing a pre-season tournament. According to the club, this is a way of preparing their team. “The purpose of this event is to make sure we have a good pre-season before the kick start of the Sierra Leone Premier League,” a statement from the club reads.

Bo Rangers finished 11th last season following a torrid campaign.

This season they have done major reinforcement all around the pitch. They signed Gibrilla Kamara (Osu) from FC Kallon, Osman Sesay from Central Parade, Saidu Bah Kamara from East End Tigers, Joseph Kamara (Kaka) from East End Tigers.

Their marquee signings include the prolific forward, Suffian Kalokoh who spent the season on loan to Old Edwardians. His blistering pace was a major asset to Edwards last season and he has also shone in the WAFU tournament in Senegal.

Rangers also signed Prince Barry whose career was on track before stalling after he joined Egyptian Club, Arab Contractors. They are hoping that the two days competition will be a perfect way of testing their armory.

But Rangers are not the only team preparing to win, last season’s runner up in the league, FC Kallon are also coming to Bo to win.

Secretary General of the Club, Alhaji Komba told Politico “We consider it as the most highly rated preseason tournament ever, taking into consideration the provisions for all participating clubs invited for this maiden edition.”

He added: “With that we are going with our full squad so that we can make history as the winners of the first edition of the Rangers trophy.”

FC Kallon started their preseason preparation with a 2-1 loss to Waterloo FC last week.

Organizers of the tournament have set aside Le 25 million for the winner, Le 15 million for the runners up, Le 10 million for the third-place team and Le 6.5 million for fourth place team.

The competition is set to start next weekend.
