Ebola kills 2 doctors in 2 days in Sierra Leone

As Ebola keeps having and toll on Sierra Leone more and more health workers continue to be at the receiving end. The latest is Dr Michael Kargbo, a dermatologist who worked at the Magburaka Government Hospital.

He died yesterday at the Hastings treatment centre outside Freetown, four days after he had been admitted.

The death of the 64-year-old comes just a day after Dr Martin Salia died in a Nebraska Hospital after he had been flown to the United States for treatment.

It is not known how Dr Kargbo contracted the disease but he becomes the seventh Sierra Leonean doctor to be infected with Ebola – all of them have died.

It also brings to more than 13o the number of health workers who have contracted the virus with over 100 killed.

Government last week announced a US$ 5,000 one-off payment for families of health workers who died on the Ebola frontline.
